The original stupa was built over 1,000 years ago, but due to the prevalence of earthquakes in Myanmar has been rebuilt many times. There are tons of gold sitting here and the top is decorated with nearly 6000 diamonds weighing 3000 carats with a 76 carat diamond at the very tip. It enshrines 8 hairs of the Buddha.
